John was always destined to work in Social Media. He's continually got his ear to the ground searching for the next big thing or new craze, be it in music, fashion, sport or technology. He uses this knowledge to engage in the right communities and connecting with the right audiences.
I think you right and this does seem like war with Facebook, which could be the downfall for both. We only have to look at AOL and Yahoo in the past to see what problems can happen to these companies when they get into this situation. My honest opinion is I think Facebook will come out on top (this time) because they have you so involved. Its going to take a massive cyber meteorite to wipe out Facebook, for someone to think of a concept that we haven’t even comprehended yet, and i don’t believe Google+ is that.
BBM and social networks did have a role to play in the riots, but it was the rioters that caused this disruption not the technology. I find it unbelievable that the government would even think about banning people from social networks, BBM etc. Do they honestly think that by stopping these certain sites that the rioters would have suddenly stopped? Or maybe we could just turn off the whole internet and phone networks in the UK….. It just wont happen, and shouldn’t happen.
