What is Big Data and the Big Data Revolution?

Posted By Sam, May 8th, 2012

Big dataAlmost every minute of the day you are adding to the world’s vast reservoir of Big Data, reported the Today programme on BBC Radio 4.

As individuals and organisations we are using more and more data. There is so much data being generated the rewards are huge for the companies that can analyse it all and better predict our buying habits and behaviour. Previously utilising this data would only be available to the biggest companies.

Intelligent Positioning is one of these such companies. We use vast amounts of data everyday to better understand website performance and what it takes to perform well in the search engines for 100,000s of keywords across scores of countries. We are part of this new big data revolution. (more…)

Big Data and SEO Technology = the Global Future of Search

Posted By Garry, April 4th, 2012

With daily news regarding Google’s personalisation changes coupled with forecasts by companies such as Forrester stating that the SEO technology market will exceed $600 million by 2016 in the United States alone, Intelligent Positioning feels perfectly placed.

We’ve seen huge opportunities and technology advances in natural search that are compelling search marketers to turn to SEO platforms to gain the upper hand. Because of that we are therefore strongly accelerating IP’s software development program in 2012.

Our agile technology infrastructure gives brand managers peace of mind knowing millions of dollars won’t be lost when search engines like Google make changes to satisfy consumer interests. This is supported by strong endorsement and results from top global clients such as BSkyB, Alitalia, AXA, Pearson (FT) and now publishing group, IPC. (more…)

‘Keyword not provided’ impact in Google Analytics

Posted By Andy, March 28th, 2012

Google Logo 2012We’ve been asked by a lot of people “What is Keyword Not Provided” in Google Analytics?”

In order to make our searches ‘safer’ Google announced in October 2011 that it would start to encrypt searches for users who were logged in to their Google account through Google.com. This would include their subdomains such as Google Plus. This has since rolled out in the UK as of March 5th and I wanted to document the initial impact of the change for webmasters and brand managers.

Mobile phones are more popular than toothbrushes

Posted By Garry, November 21st, 2011

According to the Mobile Marketing Association, of the 7 billion people on the planet, 4.8 billion own a mobile phone, whereas only 4.1 billion own a toothbrush.

This dramatic rise in the popularity and use of the mobile phone is brought into perspective in research carried out by Nielsen. It reveals that growth of the iPhone was ten times faster than that of America Online. Furthermore, in a survey by Morgan Stanley, mobile dependency is highlighted in the fact that 91% of people who own a mobile have it within arms reach 24/7.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when my mobile phone looked and felt more like a clunky brick than a designer accessory. It had an aerial longer than that on my car. (more…)

Gold! Most expensive iPad in the World

Posted By Sam, November 2nd, 2011

Fancy a gold iPad? Or even a T-rex Gold iPad? The world’s most expensive iPad (and technology product full stop) could be yours for the price of a 4 bedroomed Mayfair luxury flat.

Unless it’s some cruel PR stunt that is getting Apple geeks everywhere excited then the iPad in question is customised with gold, diamonds and shavings of Tyrannosaurus rex bone and is believed to be the world’s most expensive gadget.

Grown men in the Intelligent Positioning office have salivated just at the thought of this device which is reportedly created by British luxury goods specialist Stuart Hughes. They are the same team who stated recently that they had been commissioned to create a gold super yacht by a “Malaysian Businessman”.

Despite the hefty price tag, the world’s most expensive technological device and gold iPad still can’t play flash or has a USB port.
